In iOS 18, you can replace Apple's Camera app with Halide or Obscura on your lock screen. Here's how:

iOS 18 allows users to replace the default camera app on the lock screen with a third-party app.

Halide and Obscura, two popular camera apps designed as alternatives to Apple's default camera app with manual controls and different image processing algorithms, have already released updates that leverage that potential and feature lock screen shortcuts.

Replacing the camera button on your lock screen takes just a few taps. First, you need to long-press on the wallpaper to enter the lock screen customization mode, where you can edit your lock screen or create a new one.

Next, remove the default lock screen camera icon, leaving a blank area with a + sign. Tapping on that area opens a menu with a list of available shortcuts. If you already have Halide or Obscura installed on your phone, you can select a shortcut for either of those apps from this drawer. Then,[完了]You can save it as your default lock screen by pressing (or[追加]to save it as your new alternate lock screen.)

Once you've done this, whenever you press the new shortcut on the lock screen, it will go black and open the Obscura or Halide capture screen. Swiping up will take you back to the lock screen, allowing the user to open the camera app, take a few photos, and then lock the phone again.

As with Apple's default camera app, for privacy reasons the camera screen doesn't give you access to your photo library — if you tap the corner to access older photos, it opens the full-fledged camera app with access to your camera roll.

In my experience with the iPhone 15 Pro, opening a third-party camera app isn't as quick as opening Apple's default camera app — it takes an extra second or two — but if you're already switching between Apple's default camera app and a third-party app, you can still do so by swiping right on the lock screen to access Apple's camera.

And if you're not quite ready to hide Apple's camera app from your lock screen, you can add a shortcut for Obscura or Halide to the newly redesigned Control Center (the menu you access by swiping down from the top of the screen), where you can add shortcuts for third-party camera apps, too.
