Apple originally added the new flashlight UI in the third developer beta of iOS 18, but now that iOS 18 is available as a public beta, you can try out one of iPhone's most underrated additions right now.
The company has already introduced a new way to control the True Tone flashlight on the iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro models. Unlike the previous on/off and four brightness levels, the new controls include a way to adjust brightness and the width of the beam. The first beta controls were just vertical and horizontal lines, which took some time for users to get used to.
But in iOS 18 Developer Beta 3, Apple has made the feature and design more familiar and easier to use. The new design features curves that indicate both the width and brightness of the beam. The UI also now displays a dotted curved line-up top that indicates the peak intensity mark.
It's not a huge change, but it's a fun change to the design, and it also makes the flashlight more convenient to use.
The third developer beta brings another design change, with third-party app icons automatically converting to a darker shade. Previously, only Apple's native apps had the new darker icons.

The company has also added new dynamic wallpapers that change color depending on the time of day.
