Instacart launches Fizz, a new app for ordering drinks and snacks for parties

Instacart has launched a new drink and snack delivery app called Fizz, the company announced Tuesday. Over 21 apps are built for friends and family and are designed to make them easy to stock up for parties and gatherings.

Party hosts can invite guests to their fizz carts so that everyone can choose what they want to bring to the meeting. The app is intended to eliminate the headache of splitting the bill, so everyone pays for what they add to their cart.

Daniel Danker, Chief Executive of Instacart, said, “It's becoming more and more common for people to come together and share when they share when they share what it takes to build a party. “Then they open up the benmo and they split the costs. And while I think it's great, I think it's certainly better than the more manual methods of doing it in the past, I think there's actually an opportunity to eliminate that step completely and make it even easier.”

With the launch of Fizz, Instacart diversifies its revenue streams and products, all appealing to new types of customers. The social, party planning aspect of Fizz allows the company to take advantage of the younger demographics that may not be using Instacart.

As a Fizz host, you can create a party cart and drop links into a group chat. Guests can still add to their party cart even if the Fizz app has not been downloaded. You decide when to order a full order and will be delivered or scheduled in time to the party for a $5 delivery fee. Guests do not have to pay delivery fees or other types of fees.

Unlike Instacart, which allows you to order from grocery stores, restaurants, retail and express partners, Fizz focuses on specific categories, drinks and snacks. This includes beer, seltzers, non-alcoholic drinks, chips, dips, healthy snacks, party supplies and more. Buy a drink and earn “Snackbacks.” This can be redeemed for a snack discount.

Party cart items are delivered by Instacart shoppers when you shop from nearby grocery stores on Instacart's platform.

Dunker said Instacart developed the idea for Fizz after people came together and realised that social methods were evolving. For example, older generations pay everything when hosting events and choose what they offer. However, younger generations tend to feel that Gen Z and Millennials need to share the costs of the gathering, so the younger generation is a little different. Additionally, they want to ensure that everyone's needs are taken into consideration, whether they are non-drinking or those following a gluten-free diet. Fizz, he says, aims to deal with this evolving landscape in an affordable way.

Although the app is designed for groups, Danker believes there is an opportunity for individuals who may prefer newer apps over Instacart to use Fizz.

“Instacart is designed for repeating shops every week and to fill in orders in between. “Fizz Experience is a very lightweight experience. You don't even have to choose a store in advance. A $5 flat, your orders are delivered. You don't need to have a membership that most customers using Instacart come back every week. So membership makes a lot of sense. Fizz, no membership is required, really lightweight, and a really simple concept. When you shop, you earn snack back. That's why it's designed for different demographics and different audiences that are different from those that tend to use Instacart.”

As part of the launch, the event planning app Partiful has integrated Fizz directly into host and guest invitations. You and your guests can tap on the fizzlink to start a party cart. Everyone on the event page can see the entire Parisiful cart correctly.

“With our new Fizz integration, we solve another big logistics headache. Stocking for a gathering and making sure everyone's preferences are explained. With a few taps, we'll bring your entire event to life.”

The launch of the new app comes a year after Uber acquired it in 2021 and then shut down its alcohol delivery service. Drizly and Fizz share some similarities, but Instacart takes a different approach by incorporating social aspects into new apps, as they aim to promote success to attract the attention of Gen Z and Millennials. Additionally, Drizly focused on alcohol delivery, while Fizz features snacks and party supplies.

Fizz complies with local laws and jurisdictions regarding how alcohol sales are handled. This app is available in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Nevada, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaida, New Jaid Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming.
