At WWDC 2024 on Monday, Apple announced a new feature in iOS 18 that will allow users to lock or hide apps.
Users will be able to lock the app when they hand over their phone to show them photos or let them play a game. When the app is locked, anyone who tries to tap on your phone will have to authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode.
While the App Lock feature is enabled, information within the app won't appear in searches, notifications, or anywhere else. Users can also hide apps that they don't want others to know they have installed. Hidden apps will appear in a hidden, locked folder.
In iOS 18, you'll finally be able to customize your icons and unlock them from the grid. The update also brings changes to Control Center, iMessages, Mail, and more.
