iOS 19: All the rumor changes that Apple could bring to the new operating system

As Apple prepares to unveil iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 on Monday, several rumors have emerged, including a potential new name for the operating system, an all-new design inspired by the Vision Pro.

Here is a summary of the most notable features rumored to come to iOS 19.

New name

Sources told Bloomberg that Apple plans to change the name of the operating system to reflect the year of release, rather than using version numbers. This means that iOS 19 will be renamed iOS 26, just like how you specify iOS 19. This name change also applies to other software updates, such as the iPados 26, Macos 26, Watchos 26, TVOS 26, and Visionos 26.

Overhaul of major designs

The operating system, which is expected to be the most significant design change since IOS 7, could feature a fully visual overhaul. This is reportedly inspired by Apple's Vision Pro headset, according to Bloomberg. This includes a translucent panel for navigation and circular app icons. Visionos-inspired designs are created across Apple's entire ecosystem (including CarPlay) with the goal of creating a more cohesive experience.

Additionally, there are three apps that are expected to undergo the most changes. It's the phone app, camera, and Safari. For example, the phone app is rumoured to introduce new options that allow users to merge their favorite contacts, recent calls and voicemail into a single view. Meanwhile, both the camera app and Safari are expected to have more visual updates, such as a transparent address bar for Apple's browser app.

Dedicated game app

Apple is also rumored to be releasing a gaming app that integrates Apple Arcade and App Store gaming products, with a central hub for achievements, leaderboards and App Store content. This comes after the company acquired the first game studio RAC7, according to DigitalTrends.

Virtual Health Coach

Apple may also be developing AI features that act as individual health coaches. The new chatbot is expected to propose lifestyle changes and provide health advice based on user data collected from the health app. Additionally, health apps may be improved to include food tracking features, allowing users to record carbohydrate and caffeine intake.

Smarter battery management

Apple has the potential to improve the health of iPhone batteries with AI-powered battery management. This new feature has been reported to analyze device usage and make adjustments to save battery life. You can also have a new charging icon on the lock screen, giving you estimated time when it is fully charged.

Another rumor suggests that reverse wireless charging has been tested on iPhone 17 Pro models, allowing users to charge accessories such as Airpods and Apple Watch directly from the iPhone.

AI translation of messages

According to 9TO5MAC, the messaging app is set up to get an Apple intelligence-driven translation feature that allows you to automatically translate messages as soon as they hit a user's inbox. 9TO5MAC also reports that Apple Intelligence can facilitate polling capabilities that allow group chat people to vote and provide AI-generated poll suggestions.

Additionally, messages may add the ability to follow in the footsteps of WhatsApp and Instagram and set the background image.

Preview app

Apple may bring preview apps from MacOS to iPad and iPhone users, allowing them to annotate and edit PDFs. This is reportedly a pre-installed app for each Bloomberg.

New genmoji features

As Bloomberg reports, Genmoji can get small exciting features that allow users to combine existing standard emojis, such as basketball, into the trash can.

How about Siri?

One notable absence from all the rumours is the impressive Siri feature highlighted in Apple's 2024 presentation. The company said in March that new features were delayed.

We can expect AI-related announcements, but the main focus may be on design changes. According to the report, improvements to existing Apple Intelligence features will also be introduced, with some new additions being introduced.

This story was originally released on June 3rd and will be updated as more rumors arise.
