Asahi Group Holdings, a brewery giant that produces Japanese beer Asahi and other drinks, was hit by a cyber attack on Monday and forced to halt production at its Japanese factories.
The suspension is reportedly still ongoing, but there is no recovery timeline.
Asahi Group disclosed the attack in a press release, saying that the company was forced to suspend order and shipping operations due to a “system failure.”
“At this point, no leaks of personal information or customer data or leaks to external parties have been confirmed,” the press release read.
Citing Asahi's spokesman on Tuesday, Reuters reported that the company has not yet resumed production and is unpredictable when production resumes, investigating whether all 30 Japanese factories have stopped operations.
The company did not immediately answer a series of questions from TechCrunch, including whether the cyberattacks were related to ransomware or money demand, or whether data was stolen.
