Family location services company Life360 has launched new notifications in its app that automatically notify friends and family when you board a plane and arrive at your destination.
According to Life360, the feature uses your phone's sensors to measure your location, altitude, and speed to determine if you're on a plane. Additionally, its algorithm detects takeoff and landing times and alerts family members when it connects to the network after landing.
The company said the landing notification feature is a useful alternative to online flight tracking or waiting for travelers to send updates to Circle. This feature was enabled for all users with the latest app update and can be turned off through the Flight Detection toggle in Settings.
According to Life360, which has more than 66 million active users on its platform, people in a flyer's circle can see the plane icon as a movement indicator, including walking, running, cycling, cycling, etc. The current set of activities will be added. driving.
CEO Chris Hulls told TechCrunch that the company wants to focus on safety and protection updates for its inner circle of users. In comparison, Apple's solution is very generic, he said. Additionally, he pointed out that Life360 has the advantage of being compatible with both iOS and Android.
Hulls said the company plans to launch the new Tile lineup this year, which it acquired for $205 million in 2021, but did not provide details.
“We're going to create a unified hardware lineup that's much more robust than the one-size-fits-all Apple. We'll have GPS devices with Bluetooth tags and LTE connectivity, making it a more comprehensive service.” He said.
Life360 launched premium membership in Canada in 2022 and in the UK in 2023. The company aims to expand paid tiers to Australia this year.
