Linkinbio platform Linktree announced Thursday that it has acquired social media scheduling tool Plann for an undisclosed amount.
While Sydney, Australia-based Plann will continue to operate as usual for now, Linktree plans to integrate its social scheduling tools into its platform in the coming months, meaning users will soon have access to features like social media planning and automated posting for platforms like TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. It's unclear whether Linktree plans to incorporate all of Plann's features, such as its AI-powered caption generator.
Linktree did not disclose how much the new scheduling tool will cost users. Plann users will be migrated to Linktree once it is officially released.
The company said the entire Plann team, including employees and contractors, will join Linktree, including founder Christy Laurence, who will become a full-time team member.
The company says social scheduling is one of Linktree's most requested features because it helps creators streamline their content distribution process and save time.
“The 50 million creators and businesses that use Linktree are busy creating content, and many of them juggle multiple businesses, so we're committed to simplifying how they manage, grow and monetize their audiences. Adding social scheduling to Linktree makes it even easier to distribute inspiring content, so they can get back to doing what they love: creating,” Linktree co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria said in a statement.
This marks Linktree's fourth acquisition, having made three previous investments in recent years, in Linkinbio competitors Koji and Bento, and automated music link aggregation platform Odesli.
Separately, Linktree launched its social commerce service in beta earlier this year, allowing creators to add storefronts to their profile pages and receive a commission of 12%-15% on sales.
Linktree boasts over 50 million users.
