Meta said on Wednesday that it can add video editing capabilities to Meta AI to edit short videos to change outfits, locations and styles using preset AI prompts. With these new features, the company is taking on rivals like Google. Google is steadily adding generic AI video tools to its apps and other AI-powered editing platforms such as captions.
The company deploys editing tools to the Meta AI app, the Meta.ai website, and its cup-cut competitor, Edit. In the US, the feature is said to have been inspired by the film Gen AI model, but it is not clear whether the company uses those models to drive editing tools.
For now, users need to work with 50 presets to edit a 10-second video. Meta said it can collect feedback from creators to create these presets and easily include them in the editing app.

Presets allow you to apply “Vintage Comic Book Style” to your video, change the lighting of clips on rainy days, and replace subject clothing with a space cadet suit. Edited videos can be edited and shared directly to Facebook and Instagram via the Meta AI app.
Meta said it plans to add customization options later this year.
“We've built this… Everyone can experiment creatively and create fun and interesting videos to share with friends, family and followers,” the company said in a blog post. “Whether you're going to rethink your favorite family memories or find new ways to entertain your audience, video editing. [tools] I can help. ”
Meta AI already has image generation capabilities across the platform. With this video editing feature, Meta hopes that more creators will use their own tools rather than third-party apps.
