Meta announced on Monday that it is rolling out its AI Studio to all creators in the U.S., allowing them to create personalized, AI-powered chatbots.
The company first announced AI Studio last year and began testing it with select creators in June of this year. Meta has now opened up the tool to all creators, allowing them to build chatbots using their own prompts and recommended templates.
Users can build bots that write captions, format posts, generate memes, and more. They can keep the chatbots for themselves or share them with anyone. These chatbots work across Meta properties including Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and the web.
Meta also thinks AI Studio will be useful for creators who want to build chatbot versions of themselves to interact with their fans: Creators can control which topics and links the chatbot wants to avoid, and can even turn off auto-replies to control who the AI responds to.
“Instagram creators can set up AI as an extension of themselves to quickly answer common Direct Message questions and Story replies. Whether sharing facts about themselves or linking to their favorite brands or past videos, Creator AI can help creators reach more people and get faster responses from their fans,” the company said in a blog post.

Mark Zuckerberg has spoken about this use case a lot in recent months, and he believes AI avatars of creators can help achieve a “business goal” of community outreach.
“I think there's going to be a big shift where basically all creators are going to take all of their information from social media and train these systems to reflect their values and their purpose and what they're trying to do, and then people can interact with that,” Zuckerberg said in an interview with internet personality Rowan Chunghan last week.
“It's like a creative piece of art that people can interact with in different ways.”
Beyond creators, Meta also aims to deploy custom AI bots for businesses that can handle customer queries across apps.
