Microsoft's Windows 11 Copilot gets even smarter with new plugins and skills

You may not have a Copilot key on your PC keyboard yet, but if you're a Windows 11 user, you'll soon be able to use Copilot on your desktop for more everyday tasks. Starting today, Microsoft is adding skills and plugins for services such as OpenTable, Shopify, and Kayak that will allow Copilot to further modify Windows 11 settings. This is in addition to new AI editing integration into default apps like Clipchamp and Photos, as well as widgets (which no one is paying attention to, but Microsoft hasn't given up on yet) and the Windows Snap feature to help organize widgets. Some improvements. Various application windows.

New skills will be available in late March. These allow you to turn battery saver on or off, view device, system, and battery information, launch live captions or text-to-speech narrator, view your IP address, empty the trash, and more. .

In a way, it's not these specific skills that are all that interesting, but they hint at a future where Copilot lives up to its name and can automatically handle more complex tasks on your PC. Masu. While much of the AI device experimentation we've seen in recent months has focused on mobile, Microsoft's ultimate goal here is to create a typical PC that can open and interact with apps on the device. It's like having a co-pilot. Or perhaps it will replace some apps. Put all those applications together.

Once again, new plugins are introduced. Restaurant reservations through OpenTable, travel reservations through Kayak, and Shopify integration are certainly just the beginning here. These features will be rolled out over the next month.

At the same time, Microsoft is now integrating more AI features into its existing Windows apps. The first is the photo app's generation/erase feature. This is comparable to what Google has long enabled in the mobile version of Google Photos (although it's not as powerful as Photoshop's generated fills). The second feature is the ability to automatically remove silence from videos in the Clipchamps video editor. This feature is currently available.
