All major vendors are looking at ways to use AI to help their customers develop creative content. On Tuesday, at the Google Cloud Next customer conference in Las Vegas, Google announced a new AI-powered video creation tool called Google Vids. This tool will be part of the Google Workspace productivity suite when released.
“We really want to share something completely new. At Google Cloud Next, we're announcing Google Vids, a completely new AI-powered work video creation app,” said Aparna Pappu, VP and General Manager, Google Workspace. said while introducing the tool.
The idea is to provide a video creation tool with similar functionality for creating and collaborating within the browser, alongside other workspace tools such as Docs and Sheets (in this case, video ). “It's an all-in-one video editing, writing and production assistant,” Papp said. “We can help you take the assets you already have, such as marketing copy, images, and anything else you have in Drive, and transform them into engaging videos.”
Like other Google Workspace tools, you can collaborate with colleagues in real time in your browser. “There's no need to email files back and forth. You and your team can work on stories at the same time, using the same access controls and security that we provide across all Workspaces.” she said.

Examples of the types of videos created using Google Vids include product promotions, training content, and team celebration videos. Like most generative AI tools, Google Vids starts with a prompt. Enter a description of what the video looks like. Then, when you access your files in Google Drive or use stock content provided by Google, the AI will work to create a storyboard for your video based on your ideas.
You can then rearrange different parts of your video, add transitions, choose a template, insert an audio track to record audio, add a script, and a preset voice will read it out loud. Masu. Google Vids is currently in limited testing. It will be rolled out to additional Google Labs testers in June, and will eventually be available to customers with Gemini for Workspace subscriptions.
