Google Gemini users can now access AI chatbots directly from their iPhone lock screen thanks to an update released on Monday, which was first discovered by 9to5Google. Users can call Gemini Live, the relatively real-time voice feature of the AI chatbot Google, before adding the Gemini Widget to the lock screen and unlocking the phone.

Apple's AI-enabled Siri version reportedly faces delays until 2027, so competitors in the AI space are stepping in to provide their own AI assistants to iPhone users. These features may allow iPhone users to feel what is possible with LLMS and Voice Assistant, but the Apple version of Siri with LLM may ultimately be much more integrated with other features on the iPhone at its factory.
ChatGPT's iOS app allows users to call Advanced Voice mode, a real-time voice feature near OpenAI from the lock screen.
In addition to Gemini Live, the updated Gemini app also includes several other lock screen widgets for taking photos using your iPhone camera and uploading them to Gemini. One for setting reminders and calendar events. Or another thing that allows users to jump directly into a text chat with Gemini.
Google also announced on Monday that in the second half of March, Gemini users on Android will be able to ask AI chatbot questions about videos and on-screen content and get answers in real time. These features were first announced as part of Project Astra, Google Deepmind's multimodal AI project. First, these features will be available to subscribers of Google's $20 Gemini Advanced Plan.
