Few things in life divide a room more than the discretion of putting pineapple on a pizza. But if you're convinced that tropical fruits aren't in the pie, you'll have to swallow a bitter pill, at least if you want access to WordPress.org's developer portal and forums.
This week, users reported seeing an additional checkbox on their WordPress.org login page asking them to agree that “pineapple tastes good on pizza.”

It's easy to laugh off this as a carnival by the good folks at the WordPress Foundation, but in reality, this is part of the WordPress vs. WP Engine kerfuffle currently playing out in court.
WordPress developer Automattic blocked WP Engine from accessing the open source project's core resources in September, while also inserting a checkbox asking users to confirm they were affiliated with WP Engine. Last week, the court ordered Automatic to change its policies on both counts. Therefore, everyone from freelancers to multinational companies must make sure they like pineapple instead of pizza.
What a wonderful time to be alive.
