Famm, a queer-owned brand discovery platform, was created by BIPOC queer couple Kat Perez and Marianna Di Regolo to help users discover LGBTQ-owned businesses. Now, the company has launched a new social networking app that allows LGBTQ+ professionals and business owners to connect and collaborate.
Now available on iOS and Android devices, Famm Connect includes common features such as feeds to share and discover posts, direct messaging, and sections to manage and cultivate connections. But what sets this organization apart is its focus on creating safe and inclusive spaces where LGBTQ+ professionals can truly participate.
The release of a new social networking application designed specifically for LGBTQ+ professionals is timely and important. LGBTQ+ individuals often face discrimination, microaggressions, and bias in professional settings, and it can be difficult to find support in mainstream networks that don't address their unique challenges. Additionally, you may not feel comfortable disclosing your sexual orientation or gender identity on platforms such as LinkedIn for fear that it may negatively impact your career prospects.

Famm Connect aims to provide a better alternative to mainstream platforms, providing a space where users can easily find others who understand their experiences and challenges, while also allowing users to share their Allowing you to celebrate your identity instead of hiding it.
“There's definitely not a lot of representation when it comes to LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, founders and business owners,” Perez told TechCrunch. “We have to look to support each other as we build and grow our businesses and think about how to use queer money for queer businesses.Especially now, I We must show up for each other.”
The core functionality of the app is very simple, but one feature that stands out is the “Open to” tag. These tags can be added to a user's profile to indicate what they use the app for, such as being active in coffee chats, mentoring opportunities, volunteering, and more. This ensures that when users contact others, they do so with intent and not just spam.

With approximately 1.4 million LGBTQ-owned businesses operating in the United States, Famm will also include a list of businesses that promote their products and services. Perez said it's difficult for business owners to advertise on large platforms because the services and products they offer use certain terminology that can get flagged or banned. Point out. Business listings are currently free, but the platform will soon introduce premium business profiles for $20 per month or $200 per year.
Other features Famm is building include job postings and sponsored posts, as well as a section dedicated to in-person networking events.
The app is free to download. It operates on an invitation-only basis and allows unlimited referrals.
