Salesforce is on an acquisition spree.
After acquiring data management company Own earlier this month, Salesforce today announced plans to acquire enterprise knowledge platform Zoomin, which we've covered a few times before, and which will consolidate a company's documentation, including product user guides and tutorials, into a single portal.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Salesforce expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 (Jan. 31), subject to customary closing conditions.
Founded in 2019 by Gal Oron, Hanan Saltzman, and Joe Gelb, Zoomin leverages AI and big data to help businesses build self-service document search and support experiences. The Israeli startup's clients range from technology brands such as McAfee and Dell to fast food franchises such as Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes.
Zoomin's investors, including General Atlantic, Bessemer Ventures Partners, Viola Growth and Salesforce's own venture arm, Salesforce Ventures, have pumped $73 million into the company.
Rahul Auradkar, executive vice president of integrated data sources at Salesforce, said that following the acquisition, Zoomin will strengthen Salesforce's data cloud platform to power use cases such as using a company's knowledge base to automate customer service interactions.
“Proprietary unstructured data is a powerful driver that our clients can leverage for their AI agents and customer experiences,” Auradkar said. “Zoomin's proven expertise and technology will accelerate innovation at Data Cloud to help clients get more value.”
Salesforce's acquisition of Zoomin comes after the tech giant pledged to pour an additional $500 million into AI startups through Salesforce Ventures.
