At WWDC 2024 on Monday, Apple announced that iPadOS 18 will include a new “Smart Scripts” feature that will clean up your handwriting when you write in notes with Apple Pencil.
According to Apple, Smart Script makes your handwritten notes smoother and straighter. The feature uses on-device machine learning to recreate your handwriting from your notes, improving the look of your writing as you write. Your own handwriting will be smoother and easier to read.
This feature helps you maintain the flow of your writing by correcting mistakes immediately.
When you paste text into a note, it appears in your own handwriting. If you need to add to something you've already written, just tap and hold with your Apple Pencil to give yourself more space. If you want to erase something, just scribble on top of it.
Apple also announced Monday that it's bringing a calculator app to the iPad.
