Spotify's addition of an AI DJ feature that provides users with personalized music selections was the company's first step toward an AI future. Currently, Spotify is developing an alternative version of Spanish-speaking DJs.
References to the new AI DJ were discovered in the app's code by tech veteran and reverse engineer Chris Messina. He found signs indicating that users could switch his AI DJ's language from English to Spanish, as well as references to the new DJ's name, “DJ Livi.” The code also suggests that this AI DJ will be available in Mexico as well.

Assuming DJ Livi rolls out, it will mark the feature's first language expansion, as the existing AI DJ, DJ X, was released worldwide last year but only in English.
When reached for comment, Spotify did not dispute the findings.
“At Spotify, we regularly run several tests to help our users express themselves through the music they love,” a company spokesperson said. “Some of them will pave the way for a broader user experience, while others will only serve as important learnings. We have nothing to share about future plans at this time,” it added.

In other words, Spotify has yet to announce any clear release plans for the Spanish-speaking AI DJ. This feature is only in the experimental stage at this point. But Spanish is the most popular language globally after English, Chinese, and Hindi, so it makes sense for Spotify to focus on this demographic. Additionally, Spanish is widely spoken in the United States, a key market for Spotify, where he has over 42 million people who speak Spanish at home. Once this feature is released, anyone will probably be able to set AI DJ to Spanish.
AI DJ isn't the only thing Spotify is testing new AI technology with. The company is also experimenting with using AI to create ads that podcast hosts read, as well as personalized AI playlists that can be created using prompts. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has also hinted at plans to leverage AI across the company's business in areas such as personalization, advertising and podcast summarization.
