Spotify for Podcasters adds new integration with Riverside and deprecates some legacy podcasting tools

Spotify has announced an expansion of its partnership with video and podcast recording platform Riverside and announced the retirement of some of its traditional podcasting tools. The company is discontinuing its web and mobile-native creation tools, including its “Music + Talk” tool, an experimental feature that allows podcasters to include fully licensed music tracks in their podcast episodes on Spotify. Masu.

The decision to end the “Music + Talk” feature, which first launched in June, was a huge blow to music podcasters who share music tracks during in-podcast discussions. Spotify is also ending its “Record with Friends” and “Voice Messages” features. Additionally, the Episode Builder experience on mobile and web will be retired.

The company says the changes, which take effect in June, are part of an effort to refocus attention away from some of its traditional tools and toward “next generation podcast innovation.”

Thanks to our expanded partnership with Riverside, podcasters can now use Riverside to record and edit audio and video podcasts within the Spotify for Podcasters web product.

“Invite guests for remote interviews, make precise transcript-based edits to your recordings, and use our comprehensive suite of AI tools to further clean and enhance your content,” Spotify said in a blog post. “Publish seamlessly through Spotify for Podcasters,” he wrote on his blog. post.

Creators can now click the “Create with Riverside” button when creating a new episode in Spotify for Podcaster. Creators can record, edit, and publish episodes without leaving their browser window. You can record new episodes or edit existing ones. If you want to record a new episode, first choose the type of episode you want to create. You can then invite guests to join and press record.

Once you've finished recording, you can edit parts of your episode. You can change the layout of your video episodes, add captions to your videos, remove background noise, and more. Once you're done editing, you can save the episode back to Spotify for Podcaster. Next, enter your episode details and add monetization if possible. Then press publish and your podcast will go live.

Spotify first partnered with Riverside in 2022. According to the company, Riverside offers a similar set of podcast creation features to what's present in Spotify for Podcaster today, but with the addition of new video and AI tools.

Last week, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek told investors that the company isn't afraid to take things backwards to refocus on value. “It's healthy for people to sometimes stop doing things that work in order to refocus and re-energize things that really create a lot of value,” he said.

The new integration with Riverside and the retirement of Spotify's legacy tools means that Spotify is not focusing strictly on developing in-house tools for creators, but instead partnering with companies that are already respected by podcasters. This indicates that you are trying to expand the .
