Spotify first released its AI playlist tool to premium subscribers in the UK and Australia, before expanding its availability to the US, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.
Currently in beta on Android and iOS devices, the feature allows users to create personalized playlists based on written prompts. For example, users can type in “A romantic playlist to listen to for date night at home” and receive a customized selection of songs to fit that mood.
You can further refine your playlists by adding prompts, and Spotify also offers prompt suggestions. The company encourages you to combine genres, moods, artists, and eras to create a unique playlist that is tailored to your personal tastes. Additionally, users can further customize their experience by adding locations, animals, movie characters, colors, and even emojis.
Spotify said the AI feature has been a success in the UK and Australia, where subscribers have created “millions of playlists that they listen to again and again,” the company said in a blog post today.
The AI-powered playlist creation tool can be found in the “Your Library” tab by selecting the plus button (+) at the top right of the screen and selecting “AI Playlists” in the menu next to “Playlists” and “Blends.” Users can then tap the “Create” button to save their playlist to their library.
