There's a new venture fund in town. Swizzle Fund, founded by Jessica Kamada, former COO of marketing agency Bamboo, has raised just over $5 million for Fund I, according to an SEC filing. There was no fundraising target.
Quietly founded in 2023, the company is an early-stage company that aims to invest in companies that address some of the most pressing concerns facing women, including caregiving, health and wellness, and finances. According to PitchBook, the company has invested in at least one company, mental health care platform Mavida Health.
Kamata did not respond to a request for comment.
A year ago, Kamata posted that he quit his job at Bamboo, where he worked for seven and a half years, without a plan for what to do next. After serving as Vice President of Growth Marketing, he became COO and joined the company's Board of Directors. She also worked as a growth advisor at RedDrop, which provides menstruation education to teens. Bamboo is known for working with startups and technology companies such as Great Jones, Lemonaid, and Dropbox.
Swizzle enters the industry at a critical time for innovation targeting women. The long-term care industry is facing a crisis due to the cost of supporting sick family members. Women are facing a historic economic boom due to predicted “wealth transfers”. Women's health has always been a hot topic, and Low's fall has brought it into the spotlight even more.
