According to CNBC, Temu has added about 145% “import charges” in response to Donald Trump's tariffs.
Prices are higher than products purchased by US consumers, and in some cases, they are more than double the price of a standard order. For example, CNBC found that the summer dresses sold at Temu for $18.47 on Temu cost $44.68 after an import fee of $26.21.
Shein also hikes prices but does not implement import fees.
The move comes weeks after Temu and Shein warned that they would raise prices for U.S. customers from April 25th in response to tariffs.
Trump's decision to end the 145% tariff on products made in China and the customs exemption that allowed items under $800 to enter US tax exemptions disrupt the business models of both platforms.
