Amit Yoran, a longtime entrepreneur and cybersecurity executive, passed away on Friday after a battle with cancer.
Tenable, the cybersecurity company where Yoran served as CEO and chairman, announced his death in a press release. Prior to becoming CEO of Tenable in 2016, he held various positions including President of RSA, Founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.
In a statement, Tenable's lead independent director, Art Coviello, called Yoran an “extraordinary leader, colleague, and friend.”
“His passion for cybersecurity, strategic vision, and ability to inspire those around him have shaped Tenable's culture and mission,” Coviello said. “His legacy will continue to guide us as we move forward.”
Tenable said Yolan will be on sick leave starting Dec. 5 and will be replaced by Chief Financial Officer Steve Vintz and Chief Operating Officer Mark Thurmond as co-CEOs. It is said that he was appointed. They will continue in their roles while the company searches for a permanent CEO.
