Testing AI generated comments on Instagram specified

In recent years, Meta has introduced many AI features and features to its apps, experimenting with characters generated in full AI with unique profiles and personalities before shaking them after being deemed creepy and unnecessary.

In yet another move that may not be properly received among users, Meta wants to use AI to encourage interactions between friends by helping their friends write comments on Instagram.

X user Jonah Manzano frequently tested new social media features and found the “Write with Meta AI” prompt on Instagram.

According to a video posted by Manzano, users with access to the test feature will be able to tap next to the text bar to access Meta AI. From there, Meta AI analyzes the photos before generating three suggestions for comments.

For example, if the photo you want to leave a comment is a photo of someone smiling with a thumbs up in the living room, Meta AI suggests that users comment “cute living room setup”, “cozy atmosphere”, or “a great photo shoot location”. If users don't like the comments generated in the first three AIs, they can update and get more suggestions.

“We regularly test more features to use Meta AI across the app,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch via email. “Outside of DMS, there is meta AI in areas such as comments, feeds, groups, and search, making the experience more enjoyable and convenient.”

Meta did not provide details on the availability of the test features, but the company said it had tested AI-generated comments on Facebook last year.

This new feature will be unwelcome for users who want to comment on AI-free on Instagram, especially those who believe their friends deserve a real comment in contrast to AI Slops. Adding AI comments can be considered fraudulent and unnecessary as many users long for a day when Instagram is more authentic and there wasn't much pressure to run.

Like other test features, it is unclear when or planning to deploy this feature more widely.

It is worth noting that Meta experimented with leveraging AI in a variety of ways, as the company was found to be testing a summary of AI-generated comments on Facebook last year.
