This is an app that fights to become “Bluesky's Tiktok”

Tiktok's potential US ban has caused the development of the development in the open social web community. Several new applications have been built, and someday, it will be a substitute for open source, decentralized social network Bluesky, technologies that enhance it, and Tiktok for those who like AT protocols.

The prohibition of Tactoku is currently suspended after the extension of 75 days to negotiate the conditions with the parent company, but the fact that the government was able to defeat Tiku in the first place is the future. I am worried. Creators and SMEs, on the other hand, emphasize how Tactoku's loss affects their income.

Build “Tactoku for Blue Sky”

One of the solutions that appears to deal with the problem is Bluesky, an open -sources social network that can select a unique server and algorithm and adjust the modern control according to your needs. In addition, if you want to change the server, you can easily move your account without losing your username, friends, or posting. By setting up a personal data server or relay, you can also “execute your own Bluesky”.

Bluesky, designed for the future web, enables people to control personal data and social activities from Big Tech. This is supported by an open social ecosystem called FedIVERSE. 。

Currently, there are several new projects that give Video Experience to Bluesky. This is a completely new app built in the protocol used by Bluesky, whether it is a video first client.

The following are some video apps in various stages of development focusing on catering for Bluesky users.

Blue screens

BLUESCREEN, built by Berlin's developer SEBASTIAN VOGELSANG, which was previously released with Bluesky Client Applies Ket, is a future app focusing on videos posted on Bluesky Social Network. Also, like his Instagram alternative flash in the work, Bluescreen is built quickly, thanks to VogelSang's ability to reuse part of the same code of Skeets.

Like the flash, BluesCreen provides a video -first blueousky experience to filter the current Bluesky feed and list of video content and to allow upload to be allowed. Because it is built on the Bluesky network, the video is also displayed in the Bluesky app profile, and other people's comments and other engagements are displayed in the Bluescreen app.

VogelSang has built the first prototype of Bluesky in less than two hours, and since then, it has been subjugating the application sneak peak on the BluesCreen account of Bluesky.

This app has a set of interaction buttons similar to what Tiktok has, such as likes, comments, saving/bookmarks.

Reelo

Reelo is a bigger approach to build apps like Tiktok that appeals to Bluesky users, but unlike other efforts, it's not just layers and filters on Bluesky's existing social networks. 。 Instead, REELO has developed its own standalone app with an AT protocol. In other words, Reelo means the same kind of transparency as Bluesky and the benefits of controlling data, but there is no restriction on building directly on Bluesky.

This allows REELO to support more features, including videos, special effects, music and sound libraries, and later live streaming. Users can post video content directly to the app. As described in Bluesky's post, this is “richer and more tailored video experience” compared to other apps built in Bluesky, such as rival Skylight.

However, instead of creating an app that is just a layer of Bluesky itself, building a unique app with a protocol means a longer development timeline. REELO is expected to be released on March 20 after the first test period, and the front end and back end will be completed by the end of February.

Like most apps under development, Reelo is very similar to Tiktok, and there are ways to like, comment, and share on the right side of the screen.

Skylight

The team behind Skylight said that Mark Cuban was interested in supporting potential startups in this space, and has been working on tiktok's replacement.

The team behind this app includes a co -founder of Seattle, Victoria (“TORI”). He has a background to build custom websites and apps, and includes REACT developer Reed Harmeyer. The founder is marketing Skylight as “At Protocol Tiktok”. This is technically correct because Bluesky itself is executed in the protocol.

However, by building Skylight as a layer on the existing Bluesky platform, the app will be restricted.

Bluesky's social network limits the video to a maximum length of 60 seconds and a size of 50MB. In other words, if Skylight wants to add longer videos and other functions, you need to wait for Bluesky to change your own guidelines or develop your own dedicated app built in the protocol. (The founder of Skylight refused to interview, so it is not clear what their long -term roadmap looks like.)

Skylight has a certain advantage because the video -centered apps are already performing beta tests on iOS and Android, so early recruiters can try it before the public release.

The function of the app includes likes, follow, comments, and profile pages. Uploading the video is still working.

Bluesky video

BLUESKY's general name video recently released in the App Store is another app built on Bluesky itself. This new app is provided by the kindness of Hoshida Takiyoshi (MSZPRO “, an indie Japanese developer.

TAKIYOSHI has always loved experiments that have built about 60 apps, such as the distributed network Mastodon, Bluesky, MissKey, and the Sorasns app that combines access to Firefish.

Like some other, Bluesky's video allows you to browse the video posted on the Bluesky social network. With a user interface like Tiktok, you can scroll the re -posted and reply button vertically.

In addition, this app is a unique local “for YOU” that features a user profile, built -in search, button follow -up, trendy videos, and how to display other videos of those who are following or custom feeds. There is also a timeline. In addition, the developer says that the app is designed with algorithms that learn your interest over time.

Recent updates have added support for other functions, such as new post composers focusing on notifications and video uploads.

One -time “Pro” allows you to access post -analysis information by unlocking in -app purchase and watch videos from the custom timeline.

Soon, add NSFW filtering, video recorder, style filter, download, bookmark, etc.

The only video of the Bluesky app is iOS, but if the user is in full demand, the developer will consider building an Android version.

“Bluesky is a relatively new platform, but it makes it easier for indie developers like me to integrate new features,” says Hoshida. “Unlike intensive social media, Bluesky's API does not need to be registered as an developer account with the application manufacturer, which helps more people to jump in and start building immediately. Of course, because it is an open source, the developer can easily check the code and see how to interact with various API functions.

After that, the developer will work on other social apps, including Bluesky that focuses on photos and FedIVERSE news leaders.

Surfing of flipboard

Flipboard's latest app Surf is more than just a video aggregator, but after Bluesky added a custom video feed, the app has recently added its own video fade.

Surf initially focused on Bluesky's trend video feeds and other video feeds, including Hashtag #Skytok, but aiming to quickly personalize the feed to the end users in the future development. 。 The latter distinguishes it from Bluesky's video feed, making it more interesting for individual users.

BlueSky video feed is available in the Surf app. Here, you can also build your own custom feed to track all kinds of posts on the entire open social web, including Bluesky, Mastodon, RSS, etc.

Surf is still in a private beta test, but people who are interested can use the sign -up list.

Bluesky reel

Bluesky Reels (the website is not yet live) is another project that looks at the possibility of replacing Tiktok in the market. Clients developed by Craig Merry support only the video as in basic user interaction. As time goes on, you can include the support of other other personal data servers in Bluesky itself.

The content of the app comes from Bluesky itself, but the goal is to add functions that Bluesky does not have.

“My main goal is to build a simple way for people to create a curated feed, as in the case of Reddit's moderation,” said to build a simple way for people to create a curated feed. 。

The app will soon start with iOS, Android, and web beta.
