Threads now allows all users to save drafts and take photos within the app

Threads, Instagram's Twitter-like app, is rolling out features that allow users to save drafts and take photos within the app. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the feature today, saying it was designed to “make it easy to share ideas on the fly.” The official rollout comes a few weeks after Threads begins testing the feature with a select number of users. At the time, Mosseri said these were his two “most requested” features on the platform.

These new features transform Threads into a competitor to X (formerly Twitter), which has had drafts and camera shortcuts for as long as we can remember. However, Threads allows you to save only one draft at a time, whereas X allows you to save multiple drafts. Threads users can now start writing a post they want to share later and swipe down to save it as a draft.

You can now save drafts in threads

The ability to take a photo within the app can be done by clicking the camera icon in Composer. Once you take a photo, you can choose to share it or retake it. This shortcut makes it easy to share photos instantly, without first using your device's camera app to take a photo and attaching it to a post in a thread via your camera roll.

The release of Camera Shortcuts comes after app researcher Nima Owji suggested that X may be considering adopting Threads. carousel format To display images. X currently displays images in a grid format, but this may change in the future.

Since its release in July 2023, Threads has gradually added new features to better leverage X. The platform recently added bookmarking features, trending topics, and cross-posting from Facebook to Threads.
