Todoist adds team workspaces to Task Manager

Considering Todoist currently has over 30 million users, it's likely that a significant number of your friends, family, and colleagues use Todoist to keep track of their personal and professional tasks. There may be several. Still, Todoist never really took off as a workspace project management tool.

Other companies working on sophisticated task tracking and project management services, such as Asana, Monday, and Atlassian, are really cornering this part of the enterprise software industry. But Todoist isn't giving up and is launching a new way to manage tasks at work. This new feature has been in beta for some time, and 5,000 teams have tried it out. Now the company is rolling this out to everyone.

Unlike some of the competitors mentioned above, Todoist focuses on small businesses. For example, his Doist company, which created Todoist, uses it with his team of 100 employees working in more than 35 countries.

Team workspaces in Todoist are a bit similar to workspaces in Notion. When you join a company, you join a workspace that includes all existing content associated with that workspace. If you're already using Todoist as a new employee, this new workspace will appear as his second workspace, completely separate from his personal space, which contains his personal tasks and projects.

Within a team workspace, you'll find a project that works a bit like a Slack channel. These can be public projects (anyone can participate) or private projects where only specific employees can view the projects. You can also organize your projects into folders.

Finally, you can see a list of tasks in each project and use all the team-related features already available in Todoist. For example, you can comment on tasks, add files, and see your team's activity stream by project or team member.

Todoist now also creates unique links to tasks, projects, sections, and comments, allowing you to share tasks and projects with other communication tools.

Individual users can now use filters to view all Todoist tasks in Today or Future view. Or, you can choose to only see personal or work-related tasks. Unlike other productivity tools, you don't have to switch workspaces to see all relevant content.

In addition to the free account, Todoist offers a premium subscription for $4 per month for individual users who want more features. Business subscriptions with Team Workspace cost $6 per user per month.

Given that Todoist is used by millions of people, the company didn't want to change the functionality for individual customers. So if your company isn't using Todoist's new Team Workspaces feature, nothing will change.
