There are many pedometer and step counter apps in the world, but this new app has a fun twist. Walkstar, released on Tuesday at the App Store, enhances workouts by synchronizing the songs. At the moment of pause, the music disappears and it is a perfect motivation for those who are trying to maintain an active lifestyle.
If you walk or run for at least 10 seconds, the music will start playing. If the app has stopped moving, the music will also stop. When you start moving again, resume play.
This app was created by GREG GARDNER, who had previously developed launchers. This is an app launch widget that iPhone users can start up, execute actions, or access the website in one tap.
Gardner shared the idea of Walkstar after observing someone online with Techny Walkman and Pedometer with TechCrunch. This allows the device to play music only while the user was walking. (Unfortunately, I couldn't find the original post.)
“I realized that it was really smart, and I realized that the same thing could be achieved on the iPhone app, and it could be a truly wonderful motivation tool that encourages people to walk.” I said.
One of the special fun aspects of the walk star is a retro -style interface. This is to change your mobile phone into a colorful portable cassette player reminiscent of an old -fashioned walkman. Nostalgic touch is added with tape hiss sound played when music begins.

Other proper functions include the integration of the game center to display leader boards and results. It is also among other functions, such as live activity widgets for tracking step count and distance, and the start and stop of the walking session.
You can download this app for free, but if you use a colorful app icon and a cassette tape cover, there is also a premium subscription. In addition, premium members can display analysis such as overall step count and walking history.
In the future, Gardner plans to introduce more features that people share their progress and compete with friends. If the app gains sufficient popularity, he can also consider the development of the Android version.

Gardner is investigating the possibility that Spotify is the first target and adds integration to stream music. The test version featuring Spotify is currently being reviewed on the App Store.
