X will release TV app for videos “soon”

Company X, formerly known as Twitter, will soon release a TV app dedicated to videos uploaded to the social network. X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced On Tuesday, the company announced that a new app will bring “real-time, engaging content” to smart TVs. The app's interface is very similar to his YouTube one, as seen in the teaser video shared by Yaccarino.

The app will feature a trending video algorithm designed to help users stay up to date on popular customized content, as well as AI-powered topics that organize videos by theme. The app also supports cross-device viewing, so you can start watching a video on your phone and then continue watching it on your TV.

Yaccarino said the app will feature enhanced video search functionality and will be available on “most smart TVs.” An official release date for the app is not clear, but executives said it will be available “soon.”

From small screens to big screens, X changes everything. Soon, you'll be able to use the X TV app to bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TV. It becomes your go-to partner for high-quality, immersive entertainment experiences on the big screen. Still under construction… pic.twitter.com/QhG6cVDpZ8

Upcoming app releases are part of Yaccarino's efforts to transform social media sites into free speech “Video First” platform. The social network currently airs original programming hosted by former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and former Fox Sports host Jim Rome. Last month, Musk canceled his talk show contract with former CNN anchor Don Lemon after he was interviewed on the show's first episode.

The announcement comes a week after Truth Social, the social media platform owned by President Donald Trump's media company, also announced plans to launch a live TV streaming platform. The platform will focus on “news networks” and “religious channels,” along with “cancelled content” and “content suppressed on other platforms and services,” the company said.
