Microsoft announced Thursday that Outlook has a new feature that lets you create themes based on your personal preferences using generative AI.

AI-powered themes are available to users with Copilot Pro consumer subscriptions and Copilot-enabled business accounts. These are available for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and the web.

With Copilot's themes, you can build themes inspired by over 100 locations, or create a theme based on your own location. You can decide whether you want your theme to dynamically update every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly.

Once you generate a theme, you can choose to display it in realistic, oil painting, or cartoon style.

“If you have location permissions enabled in Outlook, the Location theme displays images uniquely inspired by your locale and dynamically updates when you're away on a trip or vacation,” Microsoft says. writes in a blog post. “Similarly, dynamic themes based on weather update to reflect the current weather conditions in your location.”

AI-generated themes can be accessed from Outlook's Appearance settings.

The company says this new feature will allow people to personalize their email services in the same way they decorate their desks with artwork or candles.

The new AI features don't offer any additional functionality, but they do provide a fun way to personalize your email app. Microsoft and Google are both working on bringing AI-powered productivity features to their email services, but Gmail doesn't currently offer AI themes (Chrome does) ). This means Outlook users have a little more creative freedom.

Thursday's announcement comes a day after Microsoft introduced AI-powered features to Notepad and Paint. Windows Insiders will have access to a “Rewrite” tool that lets you rephrase sentences, adjust tone, and change the length of content with the help of AI.

When it comes to Paint, Windows Insiders will have access to new AI image editing tools, including a generative fill feature that lets you make edits and additions using text prompts. The new Generate Erase feature allows you to remove unwanted objects from your artwork.

Microsoft is rolling out two features in preview in Windows 11 in the United States, France, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, and Germany.
